Bio: In 2003, Mr. Arnoldo Zuñiga joined DISD to begin his career at Herbert Marcus Elementary, where he taught third, fourth, and fifth grades. Four years later, he was named Assistant Principal at Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa Md. Elementary. Mr. Zuñiga served in the role of Assistant Principal for 3 years, before being named principal at Leslie A. Stemmons Elementary. In 2017, Mr. Zuñiga was named Principal of the Dallas Environmental Science Academy (DESA), a place where his beliefs are mirrored: “On time, on task and on a mission to provide and achieve academic excellence for all…with no excuses.”
Mr. Zuñiga’s upbringing and life lessons began in his hometown of El Paso, where he attended El Paso ISD schools and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the University of North Texas. Mr. Zuñiga then earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2008.
Mr. Zuñiga views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. He believes partnerships with parents and community are essential to enriching the experiences of students, staff, and families.
