Magnet School Application – Now Available!

The application for TAG and other magnet schools is now available! To apply to TAG please visit the link below and select “Townview Talented and Gifted.” You’ll need to fill out this form and then bring in your test scores, grades, proof of residency, and project to the TAG office before January 31, 2018. You can find more information on the project by looking through our application packet (linked below).

Welcome College Access Provider, Mr. Padierna

TAG is excited to welcome our new college access provider, Mr. Gerardo Padierna.

Join the all-new TAG Digital Team

Donate a two hours of your time per month!

Calling all volunteers to join the fun & exciting TAG Digital Team – staying on top of all TAG news & updates! Your monthly commitment is just enough time to do your piece – processes have been setup with Mr. Mackey, Faculty & Staff, so that the tasks are shared among the digital team & have been broken down into the easiest of tasks.

Looking for Skills or Experience in these areas – you don’t have to be expert or proficient. You will be mainly a backup.

  1. Webmaster: as-needed backup. Knowledge of WordPress, html or similar WYSIWYG website editor
  2. Email Manager: as-needed backup. Knowledge of  MailChimp desired, or similar Email Platform

Cloud Computing Training & RoboTAG Robotics

Cloud Computing Training

Where:  Microsoft Store, North Park Mall, 8687 N Central Expy Ste 1612, Dallas, TX 75225
Who:      High School Students and Parents.
Cost:     FREE to TAG students and parents ($20 to others. Money will be donated to PTA)
Class Size:  FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE –  Size about 15-18

RoboTAG Robotics Team

November 4: TAG’s RoboTAG Robotics Team competed for the BEST Award and for game competition ranking in the BEST Robotics Dallas regional. The BEST Award scores the team’s engineering notebook, marketing presentation, display booth, student interviews, and robot game competition ranking to determine the overall best robotics team.

TAG placed second overall out of twenty-four teams competing for the BEST Award. Out of thirty-three teams competing in the robot game competition, TAG finished fourth. RoboTAG will be representing TAG and Dallas ISD at the Texas State BEST Robotics Championship on 7 9 December at UT Dallas in Richardson and the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco.

PTSA Coffee + Meeting, Secret Pals

PTSA Coffee + General Meeting:
Spirit Wear will be for sale until 9am this Friday, 10th.
When: Friday, November 10, 2017 from 8:00am – 9:30am (come and go as you please!)
Where: Townview Library
Where Do I Enter the School: Parents may park in any of the ‘Visitor’ spaces out front and are more than welcome to come in through the front door of the school where there will be no lines! You may also enter in the student entrances.
The PTSA holds monthly coffees and general meetings at Townview in the Library where parents can mingle with one another, enjoy some coffee and snacks, and talk with Mr. Mackey.
Secret Pals

We need SIX parents (sign up with another parent or two and share a pal!) volunteer to be a TAG Staff member Secret Pal ! ALL the TAG staff have completed their Favorites form and we would like everyone to have a Pal. NOTE: If you signed up at the Picnic there is no need to sign up again.

How does it work?  Each month you will give your Secret Pal a $5-$10 gift (either you or your student can drop it off in the office) from their “Favorites” form – you last gift in May will include a note with your name.
Use the block’s Settings tab to change the caption position and set other styles.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parents – please come out an join us for Parent-Teacher Conferences at TAG Magnet! Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Monday, October 9 from 5 – 8pm at TAG. You’ll receive your student’s report card for the first six weeks and get the chance to visit with all teachers. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the TAG office at 972-925-5974.

Mentorship Opportunity!

If you or someone you know would like to help our young scholars with their thesis projects, please take a look at this list: Senior Thesis Mentor Requests. Student emails are listed, and you can click on students’ names for a link to their thesis blog. The time commitment varies, but we would like for there to be at least one weekly contact (email, phone conversation, video chat). Please let me know ( if you have any questions. Mentors do not have to live in the DFW area.

Calling All Parents and Alumni! Be a Thesis Mentor!

As part of their TAG experience, each TAG senior is required to conduct and complete a yearlong thesis project in a field of their choosing. As part of this, students find a mentor who can provide field-specific advice and feedback on the thesis project. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering as a mentor for one of our seniors as they embark on their thesis journey, please let us know.
