TAG Class Rank Policy Information

As you may know, class rank is a hot topic and has been widely discussed at TAG for the past couple years. We finally have been afforded the option of holding a vote to determine whether or not to continue ranking all of our students or eliminate class ranking with the exception of those in the top 10%.

Our SBDM Committee and Class Rank Exploratory committee met in February to discuss the pros and cons of unranking TAG students. All of the information about the policy can be found at the link HERE.

This Friday morning at 8:30am during the PTSA Coffee, we will be holding a meeting to discuss the rank policy and answer any questions about it before it all goes to a vote at the end of April.

If you have any questions at all or would like to attend a parent meeting at a different time, please reach out to Principal Mackey directly at bmackey@dallasisd.org

Mandatory Parent/Guardian Laptop Meeting

TAG Magnet is going 1-to-1! This year, we are excited to roll out our 1-to-1 laptop program, where each TAG student will be issued a laptop for use in school and at home for the duration of the school year at no cost. Use of laptops will be integrated across the curriculum at TAG to increase student engagement, streamline organization, and provide access to new resources for all students.

Before we can issue laptops to students, a parent or guardian must attend one mandatory parent/guardian meeting on campus so that we can go over the specific responsibilities of students and parents regarding the new laptops.

The parent/guardian laptop orientation meeting will cover the following:

  • Laptop Specifications
  • Acceptable Use
  • Student Responsibilities
  • Parent Responsibilities
  • On-Campus Technical Support

Parents and guardians only need to attend one meeting. We have scheduled these meetings at various times and dates over the next three weeks to accommodate different schedules. The dates we currently have scheduled are:

  • Thursday, Sept 3rd, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
  • Friday, Sept 11th, 8:00 – 9:00am (this coincides with the TAG PTSA Coffee)
  • Tuesday, Sept 15th, 6:30 – 7:30pm or 7:30 – 8:30pm (coincides with the TAG PTSA Meeting)

We highly encourage every parent to attend one of these meetings! If you are not able to attend any of these meetings, please call the TAG office (972-925-5970) and we will take your name and work to find an alternative date for you to join us.
